Gerald and LaRaine Wiggins
Gerald "Skip" and LaRaine (nee Erskine) Wiggins will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, February 1.
They were wed at Zion Lutheran Church in Allenville February 1, 1958. They live in Newberry.
Mr. Wiggins, the son of Benson and Lula Wiggins, is from Carp River. He worked for the State of Michigan, first with the Highway Department in St. Ignace and then as a registered land surveyor with the Department of Natural Resources in Newberry.
Mrs. Wiggins, the daughter of Violet and Jack Erskine, grew up in Moran, and was a teller at several Upper Peninsula banks.
Mr. and Mrs. Wiggins are retired. When they aren't gathered with family at their Brevort Lake cottage, Mr. Wiggins enjoys woodworking and the outdoors, while Mrs. Wiggins keeps busy with sewing, crafts, and baking. They have two children and their families, Janice and Glen Pittman of Newberry and Daniel and Dr. Cyndi Wiggins of Marquette. They also have two grandchildren, Colton, 11, and Chelsea, 8, of Marquette, and three stepgrandchildren, Bethany, 26, Glen Jr., 24, and Rachael, 22.
Leo and Donna Barens
Leo and Donna Barens of Dimondale celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, January 4, 2008.
They were married at St. Joseph Church in Rudyard.
Mr. Barens retired from the company he co-owned, Lansing Poured Walls, and Mrs. Barens retired from the Holt School District, where she held several positions.
Mr. and Mrs. Barens enjoy attending all of their grandchildren's events, as well as traveling to their cabin in St. Ignace to spend time visiting with family and friends.
Celebrating with them were their four children and their families, Dan Barens, Carrilee Hoose, Dennis Barens, and Melanie Zweidinger, and eight grandchildren.
