After a nice trip to Florida to visit my brother and sister-in-law, I find Cedarville seems cold. I arrived at Chippewa International at 11 p.m. on the night of that terrible blizzard.
The pilot circled the airport a couple of times before landing, and for awhile, the passengers were a little worried.
The next morning, Sault Ste. Marie was completely shut down. Driving to Cedarville from Sault Ste. Marie late the next afternoon, we saw a beautiful rainbow in the western sky.
Awinter rainbow is caused by ice crystals high in the sky, and it is a beautiful sight against the winter landscape.
It was especially fun to attend a couple of the dances where my brother, Jack Demmink, a former resident of Cedarville, and his swing band played music. Many of the dancers dress in professional dance costumes and perform, making a real show of their talent.

We were sorry to learn that Tony Autore became ill recently, but happy to know that he is now doing well.
We hear so much about our boys basketball team, that is again doing so well, but we must not forget the girls team is also rated fourth in the state. Congratulations should also be in order for the students in our music department.
The solo and ensemble participants received first and second ratings. We are very proud of our school.
Kate Koster and Micah Lindberg were crowned king and queen of the school's "Snowcoming," the spirit week for the basketball teams. Kate and Micah are seniors at Cedarville High. Congratulations to both of them.
The weekend of February 15, 16, and 17 will be Snowsfest at Les Cheneaux, and many winter games and activities are planned. This event always furnishes a lot of winter entertainment for both young and old. The Snowsfest is a good reason to get outdoors.
The Lions Club lottery winners are as follows: Cameron Stutte won $100 January 15, Rollie Hicks $100 January 22, and Sam Hansen won $100 January 29.
The days are getting noticeably longer. We don't realize how much one hour more of daylight means, until we have it. It has been an unusual winter as far as the weather is concerned. It is predicted to warm up into the mid and high 30s this week.
Perch fishing is reported to be very good, but be careful on the ice!
