"The snowmobiles are here and the trails are great," said Julie Clegg. She went on to say that with the I-500 Snowmobile Race in Sault Ste. Marie and the local snowmobiling, the town of Pickford is humming.
Darryl and Julie Clegg own and operate Big D's Diner on M-129 in Pickford.
Vern and Marjean Izzard had a recent visit by their grandson and his family, from Portsmouth, Virginia, Darin Izzard Bawks, Class 6 BM1 Navy, Sherry Bawks, and their children, Becky and Ryan. Darin was able to see his parents, David Bawks and Bill and Susie Colosky, and his grandmother, Dorothy Bawks.
While he was here, his grandfather, Vern Izzard, and he went snowmobile riding to Cedarville and back, which included a slight splash in a creek. Mr. and Mrs. Izzard will not see Darin again until fall.

Their daughter, Patty Williams from the Gaylord area, visited the Izzards, along with her husband, Rob Williams.
The entire family enjoyed a continuous snowmobile ride through the trails, with breaks, warm ups, and good food, to conclude an enjoyable weekend.
A senior citizens luncheon is served in the basement of Pickford Town Hall every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at noon. The greeters for the luncheon are Lu Ella and Wilfred Libby. The cook is Mary Ann Pierce, a wonderful cook.
The following people were present this Monday: Carol Schmidt, Floyd and Nancy Reno, Elliott Cottle, Oren and Arlis Fountain, Earl and Greta Wilson, Dorothy Bawks, Delores Nettleton, Mildred Hanna, and Shirley Crawford.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and Arlis Fountain returned thanks for the food. Greta Wilson won the drawing prize.

There is a $2.50 donation for each meal. A 50-50 drawing is held daily, with five tickets for $1.00. The proceeds are used to buy paper and coffee supplies.
Carol Schmidt reported that there is a Senior Citizens Club, which has a potluck every second Thursday of the month and will start up again in April. It costs $2 annually to join.
Sincere sympathy goes out to Jed Robert Fick and Daniel Zane Fick of Pickford, and Michele Marie Fiering of Hessel, in the loss of their aunt, Margaret Burley of Lapeer County. She passed on Thursday after a long illness.
