The Curtis Area Chamber of Commerce has announced it is now open for business at its new location on H33, just south of the Sandtown Road. Final work, such as porch construction, a new sign, and landscaping, will be done in the spring. The Chamber's hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

The Curtis Area Chamber of Commerce is selling 2008 winter carnival knit caps. The red and blue caps are $10 each and can be purchased at the Curtis Chamber office or Kim's Tally Ho. Proceeds from the sale go toward Curtis Area Chamber of Commerce events. For more information, telephone 586- 3700.

The Curtis Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 14th Annual Winter Carnival Saturday, February 16, on the ice of South Manistique Lake in Curtis, beginning at 10 a.m. Events include a chili cook-off, music, food booth, and raffles.

The Curtis Women's Club (formerly known as the Curtis Community Ladies Aid) bake sale will begin at 10 a.m. Children's games, snowman building contest, piñata, ice golfing, turkey bowling, youth mini-sled challenge, and an adults 1970-and-older sled challenge are among the planned activities.

Curtis Fish Co-op's Ice fishing contests are planned and fireworks sponsored by the Three Lakes Area fireworks Council will be held over the ice at dark. Entry buttons can be purchased in advance at the Curtis Area Chamber office or on the ice for $3 each.

The Portage Angels Club is seeking volunteers to help with upcoming projects and events. For more information, phone John at 586- 3966.

The Curtis Fish Coop is looking for volunteers to help at the upcoming Winter Carnival and other Fish Coop activities. For more information, phone Tammy at 586-6830.
