Bay Community College Hosts Biofuel Seminar February 26 Abiofuel seminar will take place Tuesday, February 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at Bay Community College in Escanaba. A program about how Sweden switched to bioenergy and the use of it in the United States will be presented by Hans Gulliksson of Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden, Hillevi Eriksson of Swedish Forest Agency, Kjell Andersson of Swedish Bioenergy Association, and Bjorn Vikinge of Vikinge Forest and Bioenergy. There is no charge to attend and reservations are not required. In 1996, the city of Växjö and the surrounding county of Kronoberg in the southeast part of Sweden decided to end their reliance on fossil fuels. Today, Sweden produces more than a quarter of all energy from biofuels, and southeastern Sweden has an even higher rate. |
