Rexton-Garnet It's cold! We have had "better not stick your tongue to the flagpole" kind of weather. The seed catalogs arriving in the mail have taken the edge off, a little, as we dream of warmer weather to come. Plenty of outdoor activities are awaiting those who enjoy dressing in layers. The annual Antique Snowmobile show will be Saturday, February 16, in lovely Naubinway. If you are a vintage snowmobile buff, this is the place to be. The Curtis annual winterfest will also be underway Saturday, February 16, with fireworks on the frozen lake at dusk. What a treat for the middle of winter. Robyn Albrecht hopped a plane for sunny, warmer weather in Arizona. She is a guest of former Engadine and Rexton residents and former pastor, Truman Mills and his wife, Dorothy, along with their daughter, Brenda, and her family. Speedy recovery is wished to Bud Weger, who had a recent stay at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. Condolences to Sherry Gerwatowski on the sudden passing of her husband, Gerry. The Gerwatowskis were avid bowlers and owners of the Taqhua Lanes, and were regulars in the leagues that many folks from Garnet, Rexton, and Naubinway were involved in a few years back. The "flu bug" continues to impact the communities' residents. The Rexton Mennonite Church youth group 20/20 will be hosting a Valentine Dinner fundraiser at the church hall Wednesday, February 13. Birthday wishes to Jackie Prout February 3; Brandon Zibart, Pam Paquin, James Varty February 4; Heidi Kerridge, and Shirley Formolo, February 5 (we recall that day in memory of Meade Hart, also); Lauren Prater February 7; Sung Hart February 8; Tara Weger February 11; Raymond Derusha February 12; Brooke Livermore and Susan Fosdick February 15; Adam Benoit and Jake Dishaw February 17. Anniversary wishes to Smokey and Dani Rutledge February 6; Dale and Evelyn Burgess February 12; Jay and Darcy King, and Mike and Karene Kerbersky February 13. Send Valentine wishes to all of the folks you hold dear, who have a special place in your heart. Continued get well wishes to my friend and co-worker, Mary Ann Mullins of St. Ignace, who will be absent from the desk behind me for awhile, and to my brother, Dave Beaudoin, who seems to be a frequent flyer with regard to hospital stays. |
