New Miss America Visited Straits During Bridge's 50th

Miss Michigan 2007 Kirsten Haglund (left), with Marina and Lydia Brown of St. Ignace last summer, was crowned Miss America 2008 Saturday, January 26. She visited the Straits of Mackinac last summer to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge. The last time a reigning Miss Michigan was named Miss America was when Kaye Lani Rae Rafko won the crown in 1988. As Miss Michigan, she was a guest at the 1987 Les Cheneaux Antique Wooden Boat Show and Festival of Arts in Hessel. (Photograph by John Torsky of Cedarville)
