Public Invited To EUP Quiz Bowl Competition at LaSalle Thursday

The public is invited to the Eastern Upper Peninsula High School Quiz Bowl competition at LaSalle High School Thursday, February 14. It is free of charge.

Matches will take place from 12:30 p.m. to about 2:30 p.m. Teams from St. Ignace, Cedarville, DeTour, Pickford, and Rudyard, will compete.

Matches will be held simultaneously in the high school cafeteria and library. The times and teams involved in each match will be posted near the library and cafeteria doors, said LaSalle Quiz Bowl coach Pat Shiemke.

LaSalle's team, the St. Ignace Saints, includes seniors Brendon Steiner and Shane Spring, and juniors Angela Cena and Michael Wilk. Alternates are juniors Lewis Steiner and Kaiden Shiemke.

Teams winning first and second place will proceed to the district quiz bowl competition at Sault Area High School Saturday, March 8. Winners there will continue to state championships at Michigan State University.
