Jack W. Leggett of Trout Lake was a former marketing executive for Maritz Incorporated of St. Louis, Missouri. Following his retirement, he was a marketing professor at Southern Illinois University in Illinois, and at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, until he retired from teaching. Mr. Leggett passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Hospice House in Cheboygan, the day after his 90th birthday.

He was born February 6, 1918, in Jackson to William C. And Ruth (nee Beilfus) Leggett.

Mr. Leggett served in World War II. In addition to his careers, he obtained a master's degree in business administration education, and was a lifetime member of the American Marketing Association, as well as a past president of the organization.

He was a member and past president of the Sales Executive Association. He was an active Boy Scouts of America volunteer and he served as a troop leader.

Mr. Leggett enjoyed hunting and fishing, and the Upper Peninsula was his favorite place. When he retired, he moved to Trout Lake. He spent the past 25 years there, while spending winters in Storm Lake.

Mr. Leggett became ill with cancer about six months ago.

He is survived by a son, Jeff Leggett of Vestal, New York, and a daughter, Libby Leggett of Tuscon, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Jeane M. Leggett and Gloria Leggett.

No local services are planned at this time, but a memorial service is being planned at Storm Lake later this year.
