St. Ignace Honors Referee for 54 years With Celebration

      Jim Lamoreaux of St. Ignace, who served 54 years as a high school referee with the Michigan High School Athletic Association, was honored during his final season by LaSalle High School between the junior varsity and varsity boys basketball games against Gaylord Tuesday, February 12.

Mackinaw City Wins District Championship
      Mackinaw City Midget B hockey team won the District 7 championship with a 3-1 win over Alpena Sunday, February 10, advancing to the state finals February 29 to March 2. The team also captured the Northern Michigan Hockey League title this season.

Binger, Colegrove Earn Bowling Honors

      Senior Chris Binger and junior Meghann Colegrove of St. Ignace were named to the Northern Michigan Bowling Association All Conference Team for the 2007-08 season. Binger bowled a 257, the thirdhighest individual game in the conference, and averaged 202 for third place among the boys.

Wendy Colegrove Bowls 299 in St. Ignace Tournament Feb. 11
      Wendy Colegrove of St. Ignace rolled the first 299 game on record for women at Gateway Lanes in St. Ignace during city tournaments Monday, February 11. Colegrove started the three game series with a 149, followed by the 299, and finished with a 181, for a 629 series.
