Leo Ervin "Pee Wee" Kemp, 78, of Rudyard, died Friday, February 8, 2008, at his home.
He was born January 28, 1930, in Rudyard to Ervin John and Lempi Julia (nee Larson) Kemp.
He grew up in Rudyard and was graduated from Rudyard High School. He worked in the grocery business, starting at the A&P in Rudyard and retiring, as a meat cutter, from the Soo Super Value in 1993. During his retirement, he worked part time at the Rudyard Coop Store as a meat cutter.
He married Margaret Eileen Sylvester December 10, 1948, at the Rudyard Presbyterian Church.
He was a member of the Rudyard Presbyterian Church and Camp 4 Bucks. He was an active member of the E.U.P. Horseshoe Pitchers Association. Mr. Kemp liked to hunt deer, play horseshoes, and go to the casino. He attended the local basketball games, watched the NBA and Tigers on television, and listened to the Tigers on the radio.
Mr. Kemp is survived by three children and their families, Larry and Jennifer Kemp of Eaton Rapids, Cindy Kemp and Kelly Anne Kemp, both of Rudyard; four grandchildren and their families, Kimberly and Kelly Macy, Larry Kemp, Brandon Kemp, and Jillian Kemp, and three great-grandchildren, Kyle Macy, Josiah Macy, and Natalie Kemp. Also surviving are five sisters and their families, Arbutus and Cliff Carr of Rudyard, Sharon and Don Thompson of Clarkston, Kathy and Steve Fountain of Cedarville, and Corrine Fountain and Vera Taylor, both of Pickford, and two brothers and their families, Gary and Ellie McDonald of St. Ignace, and William and Yvonne McDonald of Cedarville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, who died May 14, 2007; his parents; his stepfather, Lloyd McDonald, and a brother-in-law, Roger Fountain.
At his request, no services will be held.
Memorials may be made to the Handicap Accessible Fund at the First Presbyterian Church at 257 Main Street, Rudyard, Michigan, 49780.
Inurnment will be in Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township.
Reamer Galer Funeral Home of Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
