Loren McDonald Loren D. McDonald of South Lyon was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born August 7, 1928, in Gould City to Angus H. and Mary (nee Metty) McDonald. He attended the Newton Township School in Gould City. In 1945, at the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Marines and served overseas in China and other locations for four years. Following discharge from the military, he moved to Detroit, where in 1951 he met and married Rose Panzica. They both worked for savings and loan companies and credit unions. He was of Catholic faith. Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife, Rose McDonald of South Lyon; three children and their families, Cynthia and Rick Theakston and Susan and George Jackiw, all of Westland, and Dennis and Rosemarie McDonald of Howell; grandchildren Robert and Jennifer Theakston, Zachary and Amanda Jackiw, and Ben and Kyle Mc Donald; two sisters, Margaret Huber of Gould City and Patricia Tomiko of Manistique, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his brother, Angus "Bud" McDonald, and an infant brother, Hugh Lavern McDonald. Burial will take place at a later date in the Newton Township Cemetery in Gould City. |
