Lillian Ledy
Lillian Alice Ledy, 91, was a onetime restaurant owner on Drummond Island who worked as a professional cook for restaurants, lodges, and homes. Mrs. Ledy died Thursday, February 21, 2008, at her home on Drummond Island.

She was born June 25, 1916, on Drummond Island to Frank and Alice Mary (nee Church) Satago.

She grew up on Drummond Island, and lived in the St. Ignace area for a few years.

She married Lawrence Ledy March 26, 1946, and made their home on Drummond Island, where their five children grew up.

Mrs. Ledy was a member of the St. Florence Catholic Church, the Women's Guild, the Drummond Island Homemakers, the Snowmobile Club, the Sportsman's Club, and the Drummond Island Township Golf Course. She enjoyed golf, painting, cooking, reading, knitting, card playing, singing, watching and playing softball, and her children's many activities.

She was a professional cook for various restaurants, lodges, and homes. At one time, she owned and operated her own restaurant near the airport on Drummond Island.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; two children and their families, Kevin and Karen Ledy of Pataskala, Ohio, and Gerry and Betty Bailey of Drummond Island, and a niece, Luella Leonard Gallagher of Goetzville. She has 11 grandchildren, Nathan Bootz, Josh Bootz, Luke Bootz, Lawrence Ledy, Adam Ledy, Jenny Ledy Jewell, Jason Ledy, Johna Ledy Walter, Scott Bailey, Sharolyn Bailey Steele, and Kelli Bailey Ouimet; and nine great-grandchildren, Marcus Jewell, Dominic Jewell, Alexandra Bootz, Andrew Bootz, Brock Bootz, Lilia Walter, Kevin Walter, Zachary Steele, and Trey Ouimet.

Mrs. Ledy was preceded in death by three children, Ruth Ellen Bootz, Lawrence F. Ledy, and Douglas Bailey, and two sisters, Della Satago and Frances Satago Hobson.

A Mass to celebrate her life was held at the St. Florence Catholic Church on Drummond Island Monday, February 25, at noon. Friends called at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will be in Drummond Island Cemetery in the spring.

Reamer Galer Funeral Home of Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
