Just as the warm, sunny weather draws visitors to the southern states, our state caters to folks looking to enjoy the clear, crisp, and often sunny days of winter.
Guests at the home of Al and Nadine Garavaglia were their niece, Andrea Pierson, and a friend, Brad Cohoon of Lake Orion.
Surprise "we couldn't go by without stopping" visitors at our home were the best friend of our son, Dave, Jason Ott, and his wife, Sarah. They were here from Anchorage, Alaska, spending time with Mr. Ott's mother, Laurie Wyse, as well as Tim, Sara, and Ben. They had to leave to report to his teaching duties all too soon.
The midwinter gathering of their clan took place Saturday morning for brunch at the home of John and Louella Snow. Around the table were Jay and Barb Livermore of Germfask, Martha Sheppard and Fran Berry of Manistique, Steve and Deb Livermore of Engadine, Lester and Kathy Livermore of Naubinway, and local residents Roy and Karen Livermore, and Dave and Linda Livermore. The importance of family is evident as the brothers and sisters make every effort to gather at least twice a year. A phone call to sister Evelyn Burgess and brother Frank Livermore included them in the gathering, too.
Mrs. Snow made a trip to the hospital Sunday and stayed overnight as they ran some tests for her heart. (Anyone who knows her is not surprised at the "size" of her heart.) Get well wishes are sent to Mrs. Snow.
Continued get well wishes to folks who are dealing with various problems and illness, including Harold Derusha, John Benson, and Avis Skeens, who gets a helping hand from her sister, Evelyn Selby. Ms. Selby lends a hand to Connie Paquin.
Birthday wishes to a "good humor lady" at the bank, Diane Albright March 3, Tammy Darknell March 5, Laura Goudreau Flatt March 6, Eric Oberle, Brent Nygard, Corrina Gouza March 8, and my friend and co-worker, Debbie Luepnitz, March 9.
The snowbanks continue to creep up to the windowsills, and plenty of folks are expressing their desire for spring.
