Historical Society To Meet March 13

Rudyard Historical Society's Thursday, March 13, meeting will feature lifelong Rudyard resident Sally White Wiles, who will speak about growing up in Rudyard and Rudyard history. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. and will be at the Rudyard Community Center at 18725 South Mackinac Trail in Rudyard.

Mrs. Wiles has lived in Rudyard her entire life, and was the valedictorian of the Rudyard High School Class of 1964.

She taught second grade and special education classes during her 26 years of teaching in the Rudyard Area Schools.

Mrs. Wiles will speak about the White and Mikkola families. Her grandfather was a Methodist minister who briefly served the Rudyard Presbyterian Church. Her grandfather Mikkola was one of the four founders of the Rudyard Cooperative Company.

The meeting will include a bake sale, raffle, and refreshments, and is open to the public.
