Weather Spotter Classes Being Offered

The National Weather Service in Gaylord will offer Severe Weather Spotter Safety Courses across Northern and Eastern Upper Michigan beginning in March. The presentations are free, open to the public, and usually last about two hours. The program provides details about how to become a weather spotter, and how to make a complete report to the National Weather Service.

Classes will be offered March 10 at 6 p.m. at the Cheboygan Public Library; April 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bayliss Public Library in Sault Ste. Marie, and April 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the 911 Dispatch Center in Kincheloe.

Each person who attends receives severe weather handouts, a National Weather Service spotter card, and access to a toll free telephone number specifically set aside for spotters in Northern Michigan. Anyone interested in learning more about storm spotting and severe weather can attend one of these presentations.
