Brevort
By Lois Movalson 292-5581

Signs of spring, despite the huge amounts of snow and low temperatures, are showing up. Kathy Reid was happy to see "Popcorn," the friendly raven in her and Bob's backyard, pecking away at the popped corn scattered about. Dave spotted fox tracks heading under our front porch. (Not exactly the kind of front porch visitors I'm looking for, though.).

Dave checked the other end of the porch at the same time the fox made its hurried exit. The next day Dave found tracks at the cellar door in back of the house.

There has been a snowshoe hare scrounging for bird seed from the feeders.

The last Trinity lunch will be served Friday, March 15, at noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in the village of Brevort.

Jerri Rose, Pega Kennedy, and others joined the folks at Zion Lutheran Church for games of cards, Monopoly, and others. A good time was had by all.

Saturday evening, March 8, Tom and Joyce Gustafson, Mike and Lara Gustafson, with their daughters, Kristi and Morgan, and John and Pega Kennedy all journeyed to St. Ignace to enjoy the Night of Jazz music program at LaSalle High School. Kristi is a member of the steel drum band.

John Kennedy has started his rehabilitation at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace.

Kevin Berry is enjoying spring break at the home of his parents, Bob and Ellen Berry. Kevin is enrolled at Michigan Technological University in Houghton. Ellen is downstate this week babysitting their granddaughter, not a hard job. Ellen and Bob have enjoyed winter in Brevort, doing a lot of cross-country skiing.

Crystal Giordani of Petoskey was home visiting her parents, Betty and Gio, for a few days last week. Crystal works at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey.

Once a month an offering is collected at Trinity to be combined with proceeds from the Friday lunches, to offset the cost of sending "caring packages" filled with goodies to people in the military and students in college. Tuesday will be our first mail out.

Zach Movalson came in first in a roller blade event in Brighton last week. We're proud!

Les Jorgensen and his brother, Mike, were at the home of their parents, Barb and Owen Jorgensen, this past weekend, recording music on the grand pianos in Owen's music room.

There's a dastardly bug about the neighborhood, causing flu, colds, and all the other stuff that makes one sneeze, cough, and feel miserable.

Many of residents here had 12 degrees below zero Monday morning, March 10.

Kathy Reid and I have noticed a change at the feeders this winter. There are no goldfinches, but lots of chickadees.

Bill Movalson of Gladstone called on Dave, Dave Jr., and me last Saturday. He was on his way home from a business meeting in New York. Shortly after arriving home in Gladstone, he fell, and suffered a concussion and a fractured vertebrae. All this after that long road trip from the East Coast in bad weather. Get well quick, Bill.

Our friend, Bill Triner of Massillon, Ohio, said diesel fuel was $4.08 a gallon there.

Happy birthday, some belated, to Brian Rose March 2, Joey Berry and Lynn Yoder March 6, Elva Nelson March 8, and Morgan Gustafson March 16.

Anne Anderson of Bemidji, Minnesota, called this Monday morning, hoping to find out when the sap might run. It's anyone's guess.

Enjoy the sun and blue sky.
