Five students from Mackinac Island are raising funds for their senior class trip to Puerto Rico by selling raffle tickets for a painting.
Island artist Marta Olson has donated the painting to the class. The artwork depicts the east shoreline of the Island, just north of Arch Rock.
During the trip from May 1 through May 7, said class advisor Liz Burt, students will hike through a rain forest, snorkel, and explore a cave.
Mrs. Burt and parent Ken Straight will travel with students Kyle Sweet, Karlena Mosley, Woody Beardsley, Caleb Straight, and Riley Chaffee.
Tickets are $5 each, three for $10, or six for $20, and can be purchased by sending a check made out to Class of 2008, Mackinac Island Public School, P.O. Box 340, Mackinac Island Michigan 49757. Ticket stubs will be mailed to purchasers. The winning ticket will be drawn Friday, March 28.
