Ladies Night Offers Health Tests March 31 at Sault

Ahealth night for women will be offered Monday, March 31, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Avery Square in Sault Ste. Marie.

Free health screenings will be provided for women of all ages, including bone density, blood pressure screening, and depression screening. Cholesterol and blood glucose testing will be offered for $5 each.

Women ages 40 to 64 can take advantage of free mammograms and breast exams to screen for breast cancer. Pap tests will be given to screen for cervical cancer. Colorectal tests will be distributed for colon cancer screening.

Tests are free to women with an income of no more than $26,000, or whose two-person family income is $35,000. Families with more than two people can add $9,000 for each family member to the $35,000 base to see if they qualify for free testing.

Participants will also be able to discuss women's health issues, sample food, and sign up for prize drawings. Casino packages will be given out, and massage demonstrations, music lessons, Tai Chi, exercise, and nutrition information will be available.

Chippewa County Health Department, War Memorial Hospital, and Lake Superior State University nursing students are sponsoring the event.
