St. Ignace
By Miriam Blair 643-7994

Construction Mechanic Second Class (CM2) Thomas Wilk replaces a blown oil pan gasket on a generator at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Enrolled in active duty with the Navy, CM2 Wilk is assigned to Alfa Company, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 133, based in Gulfport, Mississippi. Construction mechanics are responsible for field repairs on large equipment. CM2 Wilk will deploy this summer with the USNS Mercy, a hospital ship, conducting humanitarian missions in the Pacific Theater. Seabees from NMCB 133 will be assigned to perform humanitarian construction on shore. He is the son of Mary Wilk and Randy Stempki of St. Ignace. (Photograph by Lt. Steven Voris)
Mackinac Islanders are still taking advantage of the ice bridge to St. Ignace.

Bev Kammers is hospitalized at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey. She has volunteered many hours in the past months at our Hope Chest resale store.

Word has been received that Chris Bloswick is a patient in a Grand Rapids hospital, where he is undergoing tests.

Karen and Bob Sparks of Detroit were visitors in St. Ignace this past week.

Pete Everson reports that the initial mailing of invitations and information for the second St. Ignace All Class Community Reunion have been sent out, and St. Ignace Community Foundation committee members suggest that if you haven't received an invitation, that you are likely not on a mailing list or have an incorrect address. The reunion will include all community members, even those who were not graduated from LaSalle High, and graduates of the Ursuline Academy.

If you have not received an invitation, the committee would like to include you. Please notify members in one of the three following ways to be added to the mailing list:

1) E-mail Laurie Steiner at lsteiner@eup.k12.mi.us or Pete Everson at peverson@eup.k12.mi. us.

2) Call Kathy Marshall at St. Ignace Schools at 643-8145.

3) Visit the St. Ignace Area Schools Web site at http://stignace. eup.k12.mi.us and click on the Alumni button to access a registration form.

The event, to be held at Little Bear East Arena Friday, July 25, will feature food by Varsity Catering, a cash bar, silent auction of St. Ignace items, and plenty of opportunities for visiting. Cost of the event is $25 per person, with any proceeds directed to the Alumni Fund of the St. Ignace Community Foundation.

Although the mailing list is currently at about 3,500 names, more are missing. Those who are able to assist with additions and/or corrections to their graduating class list are asked to contact the Reunion Committee at the above contact sites.

Birthday wishes to Laura Weiss March 16, Henry Smith March 21, Ryan Gill March 22, Kathy Lawnichak March 23, Jamie Olson March 24, and Jean Peterson March 25.

Happy Easter to everyone.
