HBH Receives Three-Year Accreditation

Hiawatha Behavioral Health (HBH) has been awarded national accreditation in all of its programs through November 10, 2010. The Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an international, not-for-profit accreditation body, recently sent an on-site team to review HBH programs, services, administrative structure, and performance against more than 1,800 nationally recognized industry standards. The resulting accreditation award to HBH represents the highest level of award possible.

Receiving three-year accreditation shows the organization has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated that the programs and services provided by the organization are of the highest quality, CARF reported. Hiawatha Behavioral Health has maintained this level of accreditation since the creation of the agency in 1997. The agency helps people with mental, emotional, or developmental disabilities.

Hiawatha received an exemplary rating in conforming to the standards for Supporting Community Living. The review agency highly commended HBH for its performance in this area, which allows many persons served to by able to live independently by using modern technology such as video monitoring and electronic medication dispensers.
