Chippewa County's Wee Ones Project Welcomes New Babies With Gift Bag

Every baby born in Chippewa County will receive a Welcome Wee Ones gift bag from the Chippewa County Council for Youth and Families. Expectant mothers or those with a newborn baby may call the council at (906) 635-1655 to register.

The project's goal is to welcome babies born in Chippewa County with a gift bag full of goodies, and provide their parents with binders filled with parenting and childcare advice, along with information about resources available to local families.

Chippewa County Council for Youth and Families is a designated council of the Children's Trust Fund of Michigan, a nonprofit organization that provides permanent funding for prevention of child abuse and neglect.

According to the Chippewa County Council for Youth and Families, research shows that for every $1 spent on child abuse prevention, $34 will be saved on publicly funded programs such as protective services, foster care, special education, and counseling.
