The Junior Prom for LaSalle High will be Saturday, April 26, at St. Ignace Middle School. Music is provided by Jason Bryma, our band instructor. We're wishing all these well dressed students a wonderful evening to remember.

Super Saturday will take place Saturday, May 3, at Little Bear East Arena, Ron Berry reports. The St. Ignace Masonic Lodge will be offering fingerprinting and other safety tips free of charge for children of all ages. Two bicycles will be given away.

Linda and Charles Orr of Moran will celebrate their 50th anniversary April 19. A celebration will be held Saturday, April 26, at Little Bear East Arena. The couple has reared nine children, and their special day is sure to include lots of treasured memories.

Getting away for a spring break to Detroit to attend the NCAA Basketball Tournaments March 28 and 29 were Bob Brandstrom, Willie LaLonde, Jim Everson, and Robert St. Louis, all of St. Ignace. They had a great time.

LaSalle's drama class will be performing a play, "Crab Apple Academy," Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at the school. Ms. Kathy Schacht is still doing an excellent job in leading the class. The public may attend the play.

Brian Cahill, a 1984 LaSalle High School graduate, has been named federal security director for Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California. He comes to the position from a job as assistant port director at Los Angeles/ Long Beach Seaport. Mr. Cahill has also been assistant port director at Los Angeles International Airport and served in Washington as the liaison officer for all Customs and Border Protection offices on the West Coast and the northern border. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1986 and is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

LaSalle High seniors took on law enforcement officers and judges in a basketball game at the school April 11 to raise money for the upcoming all-night graduation party. The law enforcement team bought some points at the end of the fourth quarter to win the game, putting the score at 104 to 98, and raising $626 for the party. Student players were Shane Spring, Jessica Massaway, Taylor Dykstra, Jodie Langstaff, Nick Montie, Corey Swope, Mike Foster, Erin Barthelemy, Brendan Steiner, and Jesse Stratman. Senior classmates helping at the game were Savannah Barker, Erica Swirsky, Megan LaRocque, Ben Moran, and Robert Honneycut. Law enforcement team members were Judge Beth Gibson, Tim Matelski, Fred Feleppa, Kelly Nightlinger, Scott Strait, Corey Hebner, Rich Cullins, Jason Marshall, Bryce Tracey, Mindy Chism, and Judge Tom North. The party will immediately follow graduation ceremonies Friday, May 23, said parent volunteer Kelly Moran, and a team of volunteers are collecting donations for the event now.

Dayna Tremble is excited to announce the opening of her new day care in the St. Ignace area. Ms. Tremble is the daughter of Willie and Debra Fisher.

Dawn Wilcox of Cedarville, my daughter, hosted a candle party Wednesday. Her sister, Diane Blair, helped entertain friends and family.

The Reverend Wayne Foote celebrated his birthday March 20. Always an active member of the town, Reverend Foote is just as friendly as ever.

Jewels of the Straits would like to announce their newly organized garage sale, flea market, and resale show Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, at 10 a.m. Lynda Eby will lend the use of the Souvenir Barn, across from McDonald's on US-2. Red Hat Society members are hoping to see many vendors for the fee of $15 for both days.

Jenny (nee Ledy) Dodge of Harbor Springs was a visitor in her hometown of St. Ignace last week.

Our prayers go out to the Clint Jeffreys and Jack Riegel families. Our community always pulls together in times of need.
