Sunday was a beautiful day for a drive, a walk, or just sitting in the sun. I walked the beach this week, where I found the skeletal remains of three loons, one small shore bird, and a long-beaked duck.

Jeff and Pat Cranson were at their vacation home this past week, and noticed for the first time, rocks on their once sandy beach.

There were lots of worshipers at Trinity's service Sunday morning. Ray and Shari Baron have returned from a several weeks' stay downstate. A few summer visitors are back, and newcomer Larry Burtovoy joined us this week. Larry and his wife live near Strubble Lake, up Rexton way.

Pega and John Kennedy traveled to Boyne Highlands for the annual gift show.

Dennie White has arrived at his home on Wildwood Lane.

Pat and Jeff Cranson, along with Pega and John Kennedy, attended the Home Show at Little Bear East Arena in St. Ignace Friday evening, April 18.

Holly Engen and Mary Anne First are busy getting the First Edition Bookstore ready to open. Mary Carney will be coming home soon. She is still recuperating at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Sharon Chalmers joined Helen Haas for lunch in Sault Ste. Marie Monday. Helen and Randy live in Mt. Clemens. Helen was in Sault Ste. Marie for a conference.

Sharon and Joe Chalmers dug the grill out from the snow and enjoyed a barbecue Sunday, April 20. Sharon's crocuses are up, as are mine.

Taffy Coffey brought their grandson, Aaron, up this weekend. Aaron will be working on Mackinac Island again this summer, where he is a chef in the making.

Dot Glashaw was among guests at the annual stone soup supper at the home of Dave and Pat Ramsay last week.

The Trinity ladies gathered at the home of Gayle Lamoreaux Thursday, April 17, for Bible study, facial massages, and good food.

Dot Glashaw joined the Red Hat Society Saturday, April 19, to plan the flea market and bake sale to be held Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, at the Souvenir Barn on West US-2 in St. Ignace.

Jake Weiss and Rebecca Weiss are home from Alma College for the summer. Rebecca will be traveling to Spearfish, Wyoming, for summer employment. Dave and I visited with Jake, Mary, Jakie, and Rebecca Sunday afternoon, April 20, at their home on Gorman Road.

Anne Anderson is at the Hagen family home this week. She comes this time of year to tap the sugar maple. She plans to make two quarts of syrup; the sap running was almost at the end.

Anne visited with Owen and Barb Jorgensen Sunday afternoon, and joined Dave, Dave Jr., and me for dinner Saturday evening.

Kathy Reid visited her sister in Traverse City last week. She also called on Mary Carney at Munson Medical Center. Kathy and Bob have a flock of flickers in their yard.

Jerri Rose heard a loud thump on her kitchen window and saw a hawk had attacked a mourning dove.

Joanie Spencer visited with her sister, Joyce Mackin, this past week. Joyce, who is dealing with cancer, is doing well and has a good attitude.

Joan Spencer has a new puppy, Scamper, a little black and white bundle of energy.

Happy belated birthday to Sharon Chalmers April 17. Happy birthday to Linda Kitzman April 23, Roy DuMond April 26, and Jake Weiss, the elder, April 30.
