Les Cheneaux Sunday, April 20, we saw boats on Cedarville Channel. The whole weekend was like summer and being outdoors in the yard was truly a breath of fresh air. Daffodils are beginning to show their heads, yard work is being pursued with vigor, launching boats and dock repair are also on the agenda in Cedarville and Hessel. Last week, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Washington, D.C. on May 3 was mentioned in this column, and I inadvertently left Kristi Steffen's name off the list of participants. Kristi has worked hard, along with Kathy Trevarrow and Emily Cochran, raising funds for this worthwhile endeavor. We were sorry to learn last week about the passing of Dr. Bill Collins. Bill has been ill and in the hospital in Traverse City for several weeks. Members of the Collins family have been summer residents of Les Cheneaux since the early 1900s. Bill and his late wife, Ann, had many good friends in the area and he always had a wonderful time talking about the good times he and his friends had here in Cedarville as young people. A note from Frances Shoberg mentioned that several people from Cedarville who vacation in and near Palm Harbor get together weekly for dinner. It must be somewhat like being home, except for the weather. |
