Rexton-Garnet
By Linda Livermore 595-7283

The calendar may be fast approaching May, but the cold temperatures are not indicative of spring.

The annual Mother Daughter Banquet, with a theme of "Hats Off to Mom," will be Wednesday, May 7, at the Hiawatha Sportsmans Club activities building. Make reservations with Kathy Miller at (906) 477-8090.

The fishermen are out in full force, parking their vehicles on both sides of the local rivers and streams. Whether the smelt run was good, I doubt the fishermen mind. It's mostly the joy of the sport they pursue.

The Dairyland Donkey Basketball show will be Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m., at the Engadine school, sponsored by the Engadine Band Boosters.

The Engadine Consolidated Schools Education Foundation and Sports Boosters Spring Fling will be Saturday, May 10, at 4 p.m., with the all-school variety show starting at 7 p.m.

Birthday wishes abound this week to our daughter, Sheila Fosdick, April 29, Ron Hins, Butch Formolo, Elmer Price, and my husband, Dave Livermore, all celebrating April 30, Mary Fuller May 2, and Debra Bullock May 3.

Welcome home to Dale and Evelyn Burgess, who have wintered in Florida. (I'm not sure the temperatures are what they had in mind on their return.)
