Amy Anderson has been appointed financial director of Community Action Agency (CAA), announced Ron Calery, executive director of the agency in Sault Ste. Marie.
Ms. Anderson replaces Jeanne Thompson, a charter member of the CAA staff, who recently took an early retirement after more than 40 years of service. Ms. Thompson came to the agency in 1967 with the Youth-on-the-Job Program as a trainee. From there, she moved progressively into the positions of clerk-typist, payroll clerk, bookkeeper, and in 1972, she became finance director.
Ms. Anderson has worked for Community Action for almost 15 years after earning her degree in office management from Lake Superior State University (LSSU), where for four years she was awarded the Board of Control Scholarship. She started at CAA as payroll clerk, and in 2004 was promoted to human resource administrator, a position she held until her recent appointment to finance director.
She is pursuing an advanced degree at LSSU, and has completed training programs in conflict management, employee relations, law, and human resources compliance, harassment prevention, and orientation/record keeping.
