High School Golf Results The St. Ignace Saints golf team competed during invitationals at Sault Ste. Marie Friday, May 2, and Petoskey Thursday, May 1. Saints Second at Sault The Saints finished second behind Cheboygan at Sault Ste. Marie, and the team was led by Tyler Mapes, who carded 78 for second place overall. He was followed by Jeff Gamble with an 88, Dane Christiansen 90, Chris Binger 95, and Justen Frazier 98. Saints 8th Among 12 Teams at Petoskey The Saints (338) placed eighth overall among 12 teams at Petoskey. Alpena won the title with a team score of 311, followed by Big Rapids with 314, and Traverse City St. Francis 315. The Saints were led by Tyler Mapes with 78, followed by Jeff Gamble 79, Dane Christiansen 88, Chris Binger 93, and Justen Frazier 102. Pickford Wins Tri-match The Pickford Panthers boys golf team won the tri-match at the Hiawatha Club in Naubinway, defeating the host Engadine Eagles and Mackinac Island Lakers Thursday, May 1. The Panthers carded a team score (low four golfers) of 193, led by Zach Mortinsen with 44, Dylan Rye 47, McKinley Portice 50, and Burton Gough and Mickael Cantin 52. The Eagles (203) were led by Joel VanHise with 49, Michael Mast 50, Devon Derusha 51, Ben Maison 53, and Michael Bennett 54. The Lakers (213) were led by Michael Gamble, with a low medalist round of 41, Paul Fisher 52, Thomas Rilenge 59, Tymon Horn 62, and Anthony Rickley 61. Cedarville Boys, DeTour Girls Win EUPC Golf Matches The Cedarville boys and the DeTour girls won Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference golf matches at The Rock on Drummond Island Thursday, May 1. The Trojans scored a 186 to edge out DeTour with 187 and Brimley, third with 216. The host Raiders placed first with 292, followed by Cedarville with 299, and Brimley's 377 in the girls meet. Boys Scoring Cedarville: Connor McLeod led the Trojans with 45, followed by Taylor Smith with 46, Matt Nelson 47, and Jason Duncan 48. DeTour: Zach Melvin carded low medalist for the match with 41, followed by Nathan Klamerus with 45, Thomas Worden 50, and Tyler Anderson 51. Brimley: Corie Quinn shot 50, followed by Justin Lawson with 52, Kyle Waters 56, and Steve Cole 58. Girls Scoring DeTour: Ashley LaPoint shot 66, followed by Kaley Barbeaux with 73, Abby Stocking 75, and Sydnie Mickelson 78. Cedarville: Billie McLeod tied for low medalist with 64, followed by Caitlin Wright and Jillian Wright with 73, and Danielle Weaver 89.
