St. Ignace Girls First at Newberry Invitational The St. Ignace Saints girls track and field team won the Newberry Invitational, while and the Saints boys finished second to Manistique Thursday, April 24. In the girls division, the Saints totaled 159 points to win the championship, followed by Gwinn with 148, Manistique 94, Newberry 71, and Rudyard 34. Manistique's boys team won the title with 174 points, followed by St. Ignace with 134, Newberry 80, Rudyard 63, and Gwinn 56. Saints girls results: Christi Therrian, first in shot put (31'5"), third in the discus; Nicole Elmblad, first in low hurdles (54.40), third in pole vault; Kayla Gustin, first in high hurdles (18.09); Jaimee Bloxsom, first in pole vault (8'8"); Grace Wheeler, second in high jump and 400-meter dash; Caysey Brown, second in long jump, fourth in 200-meter dash; Kristen Olsen, second in high jump, third in 800-meter dash; Amanda Coveyou, second in high jump; Chelsea Bosley, fourth in shot put and discus; Stacy Goldthorpe, fourth in 400-meter dash, fifth in 1600- meter dash; Heather Beaudoin, fourth in high hurdles, fifth in low hurdles; Page Paul, fourth in 1600- meter dash; Dani Ford, fourth in 100-meter dash; Samantha Radecki, fifth in 200-meter dash. The Saints 3200-meter relay team took first place (11:23.60), the 1600 relay took second, 800 relay placed third, and the team's 400 relay finished fourth.
