Company Recoups Funds for County
      A three-year contract with Maximus of Bay City was approved by Mackinac County commissioners Thursday, April 24. The company recoups indirect costs incurred by the county in the offices of Friend of the Court and the prosecuting attorney, such as some payroll preparation expenses.

      Litigation is expected to begin soon between Mackinaw Township and Jim Wehr's Mackinaw Crossings in Mackinaw City, which appealed its property value assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal about one year ago and seeks to reduce its property taxes by about 50%.
