Brevort Lake Walleye Derby Will Be May 31

Registration is underway for the second annual Brevort Lake Walleye Derby Saturday, May 31, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The contest will include cash prizes for winning teams and a fishing boat for the team that catches a newly tagged fish. Anglers catching the two previously tagged fish will win cash prizes of $500.

The event, sponsored by the Brevort Township Community Foundation, offers the following prizes: For the largest walleye, first place is $1,000, second is $600, and third is $300. For the largest pike, first place is $500, second is $250, and third is $50. For the largest bass, first place is $500, second is $250, and third is $50.

A fish fry and awards ceremony will follow the derby at King's Fish Market and Moran Lumber in Moran.

A 7 p.m. captains meeting will be Friday, May 30, at the fish market.

Registration ends May 30. Two teams of two adults can fish from each boat. Each boat may also include a child, who can fish for prizes in the young anglers division.

Registration is at St. Ignace True Value, Moran Lumber Company, King's Fish Market, and Bradford's Gas and Grocery on M- 123 in Moran.
