Lilac Queen Officially Opens Fort Mackinac's 2008 Season

2007 Lilac Queen Kristi Kamphuis and Mackinac State Historic Parks Director Phil Porter ceremoniously open the tall wooden doors of Fort Mackinac on Mackinac Island Tuesday morning, May 6, symbolizing the beginning of the parks' summer tourism season. Fort soldier interpreters Joe Frost (right) and Craig Wilson stand ready to greet visitors atop the stairs.
