Sports Briefs Laura Schaedig Second at MIAA Track Finals Laura Schaedig, a senior at Hope College, finished second at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Track and Field Finals in the javelin with a throw of 113'0" at Alma College Saturday, May 3. A throw of 124'0" marks a personal best this season for the former Cedarville High School standout. Schaedig is attempting to qualify for the nationals later this month. Erica Ahlich, Katie Spencer Compete Track Season at Albion Erica Ahlich and Katie Spencer, both of St. Ignace, completed their track and field season at Albion College. Ahlich, in her first season with the Britons, competed in the pole vault and Spencer, in her third year, earned the most points from Albion as she received All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors in the discus, and threw the shot put. Area Teams Ranked The Michigan Power Rankings ranked five area track and field teams in the Upper Peninsula. The St. Ignace girls earned the number one spot in Division 2 and the Sault Ste. Marie girls were ranked second in Division 1. The Sault boys were ranked number two in Division 1, Cedarville boys was third in Division 3, and St. Ignace boys were ranked fourth in Division 2. Saints Basketball Camp Forms Available at School The St. Ignace Saints basketball camps will be available at the high school and middle school from June 2 to June 6.
