Tyler Mapes Low Medalist at Cheboygan Invite

St. Ignace junior Tyler Mapes carded an 18-hole score of 78 for low medalist at the Cheboygan Invitational, while his Saints team finished eighth out of 11 teams with an overall score of 374 Tuesday, May 6.

Jeff Gamble recorded 83 for 10th place, while Justen Frazier scored a 98, and Erik Grondin shot 115.

Cadillac won the title after totaling a team score of 331, while the host Chiefs placed second with 335, and Gaylord took third with 338.

Mapes 6th at Charlevoix

Tyler Mapes recorded an 18- hole score of 79 to finish sixth overall at the Charlevoix Invitational, Thursday, May 8. Mapes was the only St. Ignace golfer to compete at the tournament.

Saints Third at SAC Match

St. Ignace finished third during a Straits Area Conference (SAC) golf match at Rogers City Saturday, May 10.

Cheboygan carded a team score of 310, followed by Inland Lakes with 331, St. Ignace 332, Rogers City 364, and Sault Ste. Marie 368.

Jeff Gamble recorded an 18- hole score of 79 to lead the Saints, followed by Tyler Mapes with 80, Justen Frazier 84, Dane Christiansen 89, and Erik Grondin 115.

This was the lowest team (four players) score for the Saints this season.

DeTour Boys, Engadine Girls

Win at Drummond Island

The DeTour Raiders boys and the Engadine Eagles girls won triangular golf matches at The Rock on Drummond Island Monday, May 5.

The following are individual results, with total team points in parentheses:

DeTour Boys (178); Zach Melvin, 38 for low medalist; Nathan Klamerus, 42; T.J. Geisler, 47; Ian Burton, 55.

Pickford Boys (no team score): Mickael Cantin, 47; Burton Gough, 62.

Engadine Girls (278): Brenda Albrecht, 64; Lauren MacArthur, 66; Elisa Hobbs, 68; Jamie Maison, Kayla Miller, 80.

Pickford Girls (no team score): Ali Priskorn, 63; Jamie Rifenberg, 66; Heather Kampel, 74.

DeTour Girls (no team score): Ashley LaPoint, 65; Sydnie Michelson, 68; Abby Stocking, 73.

DeTour Boys Win at Wild Bluff

The DeTour Raiders boys (193) defeated Brimley (205) and Pickford (220) during a triangular match at the Wild Bluff in Brimley Thursday, May 8.
