Fifth Annual Music and Art Dockside Is Sunday in Hessel

The talent of musicians and artists will be celebrated at the fifth annual Music and Art Dockside in Hessel Sunday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Residents and visitors will be able to wander along the waterfront at the Hessel Marina enjoying performances from local musicians and viewing the booths set up by artists who will offer their work for sale. A craft-making area will be set up for children.

The free event is open to the public.

Performers from Pickford and Cedarville will provide music throughout the day. Folk artist Marty Feldhake will perform, along with fiddler Benjamin Gulder. Guitarist Griz Prusick will offer ballads and folk music, and North Country Band will perform Southern rock.

Artists will offer a variety of media, including hand-blown glass, weaving, metal art, painting, Native art, and photographs. Artists participating include Randy Dunn with ironwork sculpture, Brent Heerspink and Julie Porter with pottery, Rick Shapero with blown glass, Roxanne Eberts with fiber art, Moira Wilson with weaving and spinning, Julie Smith with photography, Arlene Thompson with watercolor and oil paintings, Ron Paquin with Native American art, and Annegret Goehring with scissor cutting.

The Les Cheneaux Watershed Council will be selling baked goods and bottles of water as a fundraiser. Food will also be available for purchase.
