Marie Seaman, 62, of Sault Ste. Marie, worked as a waitress in various Sault Ste. Marie restaurants. She died Monday, July 7, 2008, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.
She was born August 3, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to John and Evelyn (nee Humphrey) Smith.
Mrs. Seaman grew up in Ohio and New Mexico. She lived on Drummond Island for many years while her family was growing up, and then she moved to Sault Ste. Marie. Since making her home there, she has worked as a waitress at various restaurants.
She enjoyed traveling and traveled throughout the United States and Europe. She was very active in her children's activities and particularly enjoyed her grandchildren. Mrs. Seaman also enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Petey.
She is survived by one son and his family, Byron and Kari Seaman of Virginia, Minnesota; one daughter, Evelyn Seaman of Dallas, Texas, and two grandchildren, Brandon and Lauren Seaman. Also surviving are two sisters, Debbie Brownlee and Terry Moore, and a former brother in-law, Mike Alstrom.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by one son, William "Bill" Seaman.
A graveside service was held Thursday, July 10, at 2:30 p.m. at Drummond Island Cemetery on Drummond Island.
Reamer Galer Funeral Home of Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
