Edgar Ervin Spencer, 73, of Pickford died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace.
He was born May 5, 1935, in Marquette Township to Edgar James and Jane Victoria (nee Hewitt) Spencer.
A 1953 Les Cheneaux High School graduate, Mr. Spencer lived most of his life in Pickford. He worked on the family farm for years and at various places as a welder, carpenter, gas station mechanic, and maintenance worker.
Mr. Spencer, who was known for always fixing something, enjoyed working and hunting deer.
He is survived by his former wife and caregiver, Karen (Lamoreaux) Spencer, one son, Steven Spencer of Pickford; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Kelsea, Kayla, and Dylan Spencer and Davin Smith; two brothers and their families, Melvin and Helen Spencer of Santa Elena, Texas, and Clifford Spencer of Pickford, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by three sons, Jeffrey, Billy, and Joseph Spencer, his parents, and one brother, Ernest Spencer.
Visitation will be Friday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. with Gerald Fowler conducting the service.
Burial will be in Rockview Cemetery in Marquette Township.
