Wrestling Clinic, Tournament Draws State-wide Athletes, Coaches to St. Ignace

The inaugural Mac Attack wrestling clinic attracted more than 50 athletes to St. Ignace Friday, July 11, and Saturday, July 12, and the Battle of the Bridge Tournament Sunday, July 13, drew 200 wrestlers and coaches from around the state to Little Bear East Arena in St. Ignace.
Coaching staff during the threeday event included Dave Dean, varsity head coach at Lowell High School, Dustin Cichocki, assistant head coach at Lowell, R.J. Boudro, a collegiate wrestler, Harvey Bentley, head varsity coach at St. Ignace, and Alex Fleet, former Lowell High School wrestling standout.
The clinic included individual techniques of positioning, combinations, and ride and pin. On Sunday, more than 200 elementary, middle school, and high school wrestlers competed in the day-long tourney at Little Bear East Arena.
Scott Marshall, St. Ignace recreation director, and Rob Stehley of Creative Wrestling Company of Lowell, directed the event. They intend to hold it annually.

Wrestlers from St. Ignace, Lowell, Eaton Rapids, Grand Rapids area and other high schools throughout the state participated in the two-day event.
Coach Dean is planning a dual wrestling tournament at Little Bear for June 20, 2009.
