The new Mackinaw City Postmaster, Adriane Waldie, took the oath of office Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. Her daughter, Jenna, held the Bible as family and community members looked on. Kim Mayo, post office operation manager, administered the postal oath.
The ceremony began with a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador welcome by Dawn Edwards, executive director. Northmen Gospel singer Bill Marvin lead the crowd in a rousing chorus of the Star Spangled Banner. After the official ceremony, Ms. Waldie thanked everyone and pledged to help and support all community endeavors.
Those in attendance included her husband, Sonny, and children, Nathaniel and Jenna; her parents, John and Mary Agria of Bayview; a nephew, Gabe; former postmaster Dennis Godzik; Sharon Roddy of Topinabee, and Billy Norton of the St. Ignace Post Office.
A cookies and punch reception followed.
Mrs. Waldie had been a clerk in Fairbanks, Alaska, for 18 years and had transferred to the Cheboygan Post Office.
