Anna Kay
Lifelong Cedarville resident Anna Christina Kay, 97, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.

She was born November 23, 1910, in Cedarville to Leande "Andrew" and Johannah (nee Johnson) Gustafson.

She was married to Robert Alexander Kay for more than 70 years.

Mrs. Kay spent her life taking care of her home and her family. A gardener, she grew vegetables and flowers and she enjoyed picking berries and using them in desserts. She was known for her Swedish brown bread and rice pudding. Also, Mrs. Kay enjoyed needlework, including quilting, knitting, tatting, crocheting, and embroidery.

She is survived by two daughters and their families, Marjorie Izzard of Cedarville and Janet and Joseph Plaunt of North Muskegon; one son and his family, Robert and Sue Ann Kay of Golden, Colorado; 12 grandchildren and their families, Kenneth and Joanna Izzard, Krystal Garland, Rodney and Melissa Izzard, Robert and Janet Kay, Andy and Kera Kay, Jeffrey Kay, Amy and Marcus Pitman, Roxanne and Scott Lennick, Randy and Leasa Plaunt, Terri Jo and Chris Payment, Lisa and Dave Moore, and Ryan and Tammie Plaunt; 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also is survived by one sister-in-law, Mae Gustafson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex; two sisters, Ellen Sherlund and Hilda Johnson, and two brothers, Leo Gustafson and Ted Gustafson.

Services will be held Wednesday, September 17, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Cedarville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the funeral beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Reverend Jerry Wittmus will conduct the service. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Lutheran Church, 217 North M-129, Cedarville, Michigan 49719.

Reamer Galer Funeral Home of Pickford is assisting the family with arrangements.
