Mislan Receives Forensics Research Award

Richard Mislan Richard Mislan Richard Mislan was recently awarded the 2008 Purdue University College of Technology Outstanding Faculty in Engagement Award.

Mr. Mislan, an assistant professor of computer and information technology at Purdue's Cyber Forensics Lab, was recognized for his ongoing research work and support of federal, state, and local law enforcement and intelligence agencies in mobile device forensics. He was chosen for the award from more than 300 faculty members in the college.

He is creator and editor of the Small Scale Digital Device Forensics Journal, and created and promoted Mobile Forensics World, the first and only international conference for mobile device forensics, held last May in Chicago. He also frequently provides training and investigative support to law enforcement agencies and has helped to develop a collaborative network of mobile device forensic examiners. In addition, he is the developer of a product that assists law enforcement first responders in extracting data from mobile devices at the scene of a crime.

He lives with his wife, Kim, and daughters Mackenzie and Emelia in Battle Ground, Indiana. Mrs. Mislan is the daughter of Ron and Carolyn Mitchell of St. Ignace Township.
