Charles 'Chuck' Mitchell

Charles "Chuck" Mitchell Charles "Chuck" Mitchell Charles "Chuck" Andrew Mitchell, 76, of Cedarville, died Thursday, December 25, 2008, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.

He was born March 25, 1932, in Detroit, to William Allen and Gertrude Delores (nee Spann) Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell has lived in the Eastern Upper Peninsula since the 1970s, when he owned and operated Mitchell's Market in Bay Mills and later owned the Riverview Supper Club in Brimley. He has lived in Cedarville since the mid- 1980s.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Hessel and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Mr. Mitchell said he loved the activities of "God's country" - fishing, hunting, golfing, and observing wildlife. He enjoyed visiting with everyone he met; no one was a stranger to him. He was extremely proud of his two daughters, his two sons-in-law, and especially his two grandsons.

He is survived by two daughters and their families, Deborah Charlene and Darrell Sanney and Lynda Carole and Steven Cox, all of Livonia; two grandsons, Stephen Nicholas Sanney and Michael Gregory Cox; and his former wife, Maria Mitchell. Also surviving are two sisters, Ann Mitchell of Indiana and Rose Teske of Sun City, Arizona; one brother, John Mitchell of East Jordan; and one sister-in-law, Betty Mitchell of Palm Harbor, Florida.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his second wife, Doris Mitchell; a sister, Dorothy Vartanian, and a brother, Bill Mitchell.

A memorial mass was celebrated Monday, December 29, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Reamer Galer Funeral Home of Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
