My family and I were driving back from Marquette Monday, Dec - ember 29, through blowing snow and severe whiteouts. It took about six hours to get to St. Ignace. Even though it's easy to complain about the amount of snow we have here, consider that Marquette already has 100 inches, and it's still just January.

While I was in Marquette, I visited the home of my in-laws, Vern and Karen (nee Wester) Perry. We had the opportunity to visit with Karen's brother, Jack Wester, also a former St. Ignace resident. Vern and Karen both attended LaSalle High School, back when it was first built in the early 1960s, and Jack attended LaSalle when the building was on Spring Street, later becoming the Knights of Co - lumbus Hall. Jack lives in West Branch and enjoyed visiting his sister and family.

Paul and Judi Sved also were in Marquette, visiting their daughter, Denise (nee Sved) Brown, and her husband, Richard. They traveled to Marquette over Christmas Eve and spent Christmas weekend with Denise, Richard, and their three children, Stephen, Katelyn, and Nathan. Judi reports that Denise and her family are doing well. She says she enjoys visiting Marquette and had a good time with her family.

On their way to warmer climates, Dawn (nee Blair) and Dustin Wilcox of Cedarville visited Dustin's parents, Kim and Roger Wilcox in Grand Rapids. From there they headed on to Bonita Springs, Florida, to visit Dawn's grandparents, Lyle and Gerri Rose, and her mother, Miriam Blair of St. Ignace. Miriam sends belated holiday wishes to her readers. Dustin and Dawn enjoyed their vacation, and the warm weather.

Paula McCrory recently re - ceived a visit from Joan Mc - Clelland of Sault Saint Marie, Canada. Paula is recovering from surgery and doing well. Thoughts and prayers go to Paula for a speedy recovery.
