Saints' Spencer, Therrian Honored by Coaches Association

Marty Spencer and Les Therrian, head coach and assistant coach, respectively, for the St. Ignace Saints varsity football team, have been honored by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association, following the 2008 season.

Spencer, in his 13th season with the Saints, was named the Region 1 Coach of the Year after guiding the Saints to a 9-3 overall record that included victories over Bark River-Harris and Cedarville for the Division 8 district championship.

Les Therrian was honored by the association as the Assistant Coach of the Year after 33 years of coaching in the community, including 25 years with the high school program.

The coaches association also recognized Luke Murray of Cedarville and Daine Pavloski of Rudyard for academic all-state honors.

Pavloski's Rudyard Bulldogs team, coached by Pat Maloney, was ranked ninth in Division 7 with an overall grade point average of 3.631.
