EUP Athletes Named to Football All-Star Game

Eighteen athletes from the Eastern Upper Peninsula have been invited to participate in the second annual Upper Peninsula Football All-Star Game at Northern Michigan University's Superior Dome in Marquette Saturday, June 20.

Members include, for the Mid-Eastern Football League champions Cedarville Trojans, C.J. Paquin, Luke Murray, James Mitchell, Jordan Huff, and Andrew Figures. Josh Wilson of DeTour, who played for the Trojans this season in a co-op program between the two schools, will also represent the Trojans at the game.

The Division 8 district champions St. Ignace Saints will be represented by Tyler Oja, Andy Tamlyn, and Kyle Smock.

Players will also include Mickael Cantin of the Pickford Panthers; Killian Frisch of the Engadine Eagles; Todd Anderson and Aaron Diepenhorst of the Rudyard Bulldogs; Derek Dake of the Newberry Indians, and Caleb Vizina, Chad Anderson, and Derek Horde of the Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils.

Thirty-five schools will be represented at the game.

A portion of the proceeds are donated to the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame, Beacon House, YMCA's Strong Kids program, and two selected high schools each year.

A lottery drawing will be held to select the two schools and donations will be made directly to the football programs of those schools chosen.

Each year, new schools will be selected until all of the Upper Peninsula schools have received benefits from the game.
