Eileen Obeshaw, 57, of St. Ignace, died Tuesday morning, January 13, 2009, at Mackinac Straits Hospital.

She was born in Detroit September 13, 1951, to William and Bernice (nee Potter) Boahbedason.

She was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She worked for K Royale Motel for several years.

She is survived by two daughters and their families, Patricia Horn and Cliff Shigwadja of St. Ignace, and Polly and Bryan Davis of Ohio; two brothers, Frances of Sault Ste. Marie and Russel of Lansing, and five grandchildren.

Ms. Obeshaw was preceded in death by her husband, John Petkus, who died in 1999, her father, who died in 2006, her mother, who died in 1988, and two children, Cindy Obeshaw, who died in 1975, and Duane Obeshaw in 1991.

Services were held Monday, January 19, at 2 p.m. at Dodson Funeral Home with Deacon Thomas McClelland officiating. Burial will be in Wequayoc Cemetery in the spring.
