Charlotte Gamble
Charlotte Gamble, 104, of St. Ignace, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 15, 2009, at Mackinac Straits Hospital Long Term Care, following a two-year stay in the facility. Mrs. Gamble's mother also lived to nearly 103 years old.
She was born August 19, 1904, in Wheatland, North Dakota, to George and Mary (nee Marshall) Davis.
She came to Moran in 1914, at age 10.
She married Charles Gamble August 22, 1922, in Moran.
Mrs. Gamble was a lifelong member of the St. Ignace Assembly of God Church.
She had worked for Lester McLaughlin Drug Store during the summers, and before that Krostue Dairy.
Mrs. Gamble was a busy mother of four children.
She is survived by a son and his family, Captain James and Janie Gamble of St. Ignace; a daughter and her family, Leah Milford of St. Ignace; 11 grandchildren; 37 greatgrandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-greatgrandchildren.
Mrs. Gamble was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1964, her parents, two sons, George and Charles II, who died in a boating accident in 1954, and six grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, February 18, at 4 p.m. at the St. Ignace Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dan Williams officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in the spring.
Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
