Brevort
One could see hockey players in action on Moran Bay this past weekend in St. Ignace. What an event for the community. Brevort has bragging rights, as the Gustafson's Smoked Fish team won the U.P. Pond Hockey trophy. Congratulations to all of the stalwart players of all teams, both hockey and bowling. Players from Gus-tafson's Smoked Fish team from last year played the Detroit Red Wings alumni team at Little Bear East Arena Friday evening, February 20, and pretty well held their own, only losing the game by two points.
Beatrice Zak and Pega Kennedy attended the Friday evening hockey game at Little Bear East Arena. Tracy Movalson braved the wind and snow Saturday, February 21, at the pond hockey and bowling games on Moran Bay.
John Kennedy took Pega out Thursday, February 19, for a birthday celebration dinner.
The young hens continue laying eggs at the Rogers farm. Jim and Jackie have corn and beans sprouting for early spring planting in the farm garden.
Jack and Thora Shepard continue plowing the logging roads where cutting is going on. Jack and Thora visited with Mike and Helena Shepard Sunday, February 22. Nancy and Steve Marshall are spending a couple of weeks with Mike, Helena, and family.
Joan Spencer is improving day by day. She has her appetite back, and is doing her physical therapy at home.
Owen Jorgensen is doing well after a hip operation, but now is dealing with a heart condition. He has a good prognosis, and continues composing music at his grand piano. Music is the best therapy.
Lunch continues on Fridays at noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brevort.
Happy birthday to Joey Berry March 5, Lynn Yoder March 6, and Elva Nelson March 8.
