Several Local Racers Place at St. Ignace

More than 100 snowmobile racers went head-to-head in 20 snow cross divisions Saturday, February 28, at the Kewadin Casinos St. Ignace Snow X races. The races were the sixth stop on the Michigan Snow X Racing Association's winter race series.

Spectators sipped complementary hot chocolate and coffee while braving freezing temperatures to watch the all-day event held in the casino parking lot. Several local racers placed in the top three in their divisions.

The last stop in the racing series is Saturday, March 7, in Manistique, followed by the U.S. Open Snow X Championships Saturday, March 28, at Boyne Mountain Resort.

The top three winners from each division at the St. Ignace races are (with city, if available):

Junior Girls: Katlyn Blake, Saginaw, Heaven McGahan, Gould City, and Lexi Carlson, Manistique.

Beginner/Sport Women: Courtney Petosky, Munising, Katlyn Blake, and Katie Baum, Charlotte.
