E. Marie Harrison

Former Harrison's Hardware and K-D Florist Shop owner E. Marie Harrison, 93, of Pickford, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Cedar Cove Assisted Living Community in Cedarville.

Born January 20, 1916, in Pickford, she was one of eight daughters of Albert and Martha (nee Hancock) Hughes.

A lifelong resident of Pickford, she was graduated from Pickford High School and married Lewis Harold Harrison September 29, 1937.

In 1960, the couple bought out Mr. Harrison's partner at Lipsett Hardware and changed its name to Harrison's Hardware. Mrs. Harrison began working with her husband at the store. The couple sold the business in 1979 and retired.

She loved flowers, and for many years Mrs. Harrison operated K-D Florist Shop. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting, and oil painting.

Mrs. Harrison is survived by two daughters and their families, Sharyll and Jack Stevenson of Pickford and Justine Phillips of Indian Trail, North Carolina; two sons and their families, Galen Harrison and Paul and Cheryl Harrison, all of Pickford; seven grandchildren and their families, Robin and Mike Hanes, Randal Stevenson, Douglas and Elaina Phillips, David Phillips, Dawn and David Mastaw, John and Jennifer Harrison, and Mandi and David Klamerus; 13 great-grandchildren and their families, Patrick, Jennifer, Danielle, Michaela, Trevor and Kendra A., Kelsey, Kendra, Lindsey, Blake, Payton, Zachary, Hayden, and Vincent, and one great-great-grandson, Landen. Also surviving are two sisters, Jean Carnes of Paradise and Theora Harrison of Pickford, and one brother-in-law, Clifford Harrison of Pickford.

Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis; six sisters, Minerva Wise, Irene Izzard, Cora Hughes, Gertrude Chambers, Thelma Hewer, and Marion Harrison; one brother, George Hughes; one infant grandson of Sharyll and Jack Stevenson, and one great-grandson, Jeremy, son of Randal Stevenson.

Services will be held Thursday, March 5, at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. with the service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Oaklawn Chapel Gardens.
